The Wonders of Modern Medical Science

I woke up covered in hives yesterday morning. This is very strange for a few reasons. First, I have almost no allergies, so I have no idea what could have caused this. Second, I can’t remember having had hives before ever.

So, my first thought on the matter (after “What the fuck?!”) was “Huh. Allergic reaction to something. Better take an antihistamine.” So I did.

Today, I continued to be plagued by hives, so I went to the doctor.

The diganosis?

“Huh. I have no idea what could have caused this. You’re having an allergic reaction to something. Better take an antihistamine.”

Money well spent.

  1. Holy shit. Did he even recommend you see an allergist? Dumbass.

    Hey, apparently an infection can cause hives.

    I hope they go away soon!

  2. I’ve read that hives are often caused by ridiculous amounts of suckage. Maybe you should stop sucking. You might be allergic to it.

    Thank you.

    @Mike
    I don’t like you.

  4. I always heard that bees caused hives. How much did that little trip cost? I was amazed to find that I can see a doctor here for less than $50, often within 24 hours – my regular doctor, not some schmuck stuck in rotation at urgent care.

  5. It was actually only a $20 copay. My real gripe is that it took three hours and that $20 to get a completely worthless diagnosis.
