My sleep patterns have gotten completely out of hand lately. I was on Pacific time for close to a week, then got back and immediately had to go on call for work–which meant that there was no getting to sleep before 4am. As such, my sleep schedule has gotten way off track. I ended sleeping until almost 2:00pm today.
To try to get back to a semi-normal schedule, I’m not sleeping tonight, and I’m going to try to get to sleep early tomorrow night.
I stopped at a gas station on my way home from work and picked up a variety of energy drinks.
Here’s the lineup:
Energy Drink | Amount (fluid oz.) |
---|---|
Starbucks Doubleshot Espresso & Creme | 6.5 |
Starbucks Dark Chocolate Peppermint Mocha | 9.5 |
Red Bull | 8.3 |
Monster Energy | 16 |
Sobe Essential Energy | 16 |
Amp Energy | 16 |
I’m going to attempt to blog this as I go, and review each drink as I consume it. This won’t be even remotely scientific, and I’m not going even going to figure out how much caffeine each contains. I tend to become an incoherent wreck after I go 24 hours or more without sleep, so I expect I’ll be commenting on that as well. I may end up tape recording my comments towards the end, then transcribing them here later.
11:36pm, Thursday
So, here we go. This time of night is by no means “late” to me, since I don’t get off work until midnight usually anyway. However, I just ate a big meal, and I’m feeling a little sleepy. May as well get started now.
I believe I shall choose… the Amp. No, the Frappucino. The mint flavor would go better with the gum I was just chewing.
Unsurprisingly, it tastes like coffee with mint and chocolate. No shockers here. The flavors are a bit stronger than I care for, and overwhelm the coffee. The peppermint is a bit cloying and grainy–it tastes as though they simply pureed one of those red and white candies and dumped it in the bottle. That said, it’s still quite good.
One down, five to go. More updates as they come.
